Julie Cummings
Hi. My name is Julie Cummings and I currently am carrying out research within the School Development Service, based in Omagh TEC. Professionally I am a primary trained teacher and have taught Nursery and P1 – 7, have 12 years’ experience as a teaching principal, worked with and have an interest in children with SEN and am a lifelong learner. Personally I am a mummy, love to kayak and keep fit in a variety of ways and love the outdoors and enjoy nature. Music is also a huge part of my life. I sing in a local community choir, play the piano and organ in my church and play a few instruments, the most recent new learning journeys are with the bagpipes and cello.
After years of keeping myself quite isolated from the wider world, due to work commitments and responsibilities, bringing up small children and not really knowing myself, I realise the value of quality interactions with others and the blessing supportive people can be. I know first-hand the positive impact they can have and how building BIG TALK into everyday life creates opportunities to support and be supported. Health and wellbeing, to me, are pivotal to a contented life and being able to see through the difficult situations which present themselves. I am really keen to ‘give back’ and help our organisation provide its employees with opportunities to develop their health and wellbeing, which can be done in so many diverse ways.
